This wicked 1963 Impala SS Convertible possesses THE nastiest W-series engine that I’ve ever seen. What began its life as a 409 V8 block (BCN 3857656) was jet washed, bored, align honed, and sleeved with high nickel sleeves which, along with a 4″ stroker crank, provides 474 ci of thunder. Underhood goodies include a Holley Sniper EFI system, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads and intake manifold, internally balanced rotating assembly with forged Eagle crank and rods with Ross Racing pistons, monstrous COMP Cams mechanical roller cam with .763 (!) gross intake lift, a Griffin aluminum radiator with twin SPAL fans and shroud, MSD ignition, a Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine belt system, and an Edelbrock aluminum water pump. The assembly of this exotica resulted in 571 hp and 596 lb.-ft. of torque from a much lighter engine! Additional features include power steering, hydroboost power brakes, power convertible top, automatic transmission, cool SS bucket seat interior with console, and correct steel 14″ wheels with correct SS covers. While mechanically awesome, this gem wears older, tired paint with chips and crazing.
